Everyone is Bagging on the Players
Vuk threw a stupid pass behind his back.
Miles made a stupid foul at 22 feet from the basket. Tavernari took a stupid shot out of system when we were down three and there was lots of time on the shot clock. Cummard made a stupid foul on a bigger man that gave him is third. Burgess couldn't keep a hand in Neitzel's face. Etc. etc. etc. Now for a reality check. We lost that game because we were outcoached. Our original game plan was very good. It got us stops on defense and got us points on offense. Only their offensive rebounding kept it from getting very ugly. Then, at the end of the second half, they started running sets for specific shots that our D was giving them. In a short period at the end of the first half, they scored 6 to our 2 and cut the lead to 10. That run gave them all the ammo they needed. At halftime, they made the offensive adjustments to get those shots a few more times. They also made a great defensive adjustment taking advantage or our wings tendency to shoot right when they catch the ball or not at all. They would flash at our wings, get them thinking pass instead of shot, then sag off into Plaisted's lap. This effectively prevented Trent catching the ball. As a result of coaching adjustments at halftime, they came out in the second half ready to take advantage of our weaknesses. As a result of a lack of coaching adjustments at halftime, we came out in the second half hoping our gameplan would still work. Fact is, the only thing we learned from MSU is that BYU can run their free flowing offensive sets most of the game and be fine. When it counts, they need to set up a series of offensive sets that get them certain shots. JT coming off a triple, TP catching deep off a double screen and a quick entry pass. Cummard and Burgess curling off a double. A few sets to use in the final 2-4 minutes of each half and each game would help us win those final minutes of games and prevent us from losing games by "scoring droughts" at the wrong time. As a side note, hopefully Trent realized he isn't ready for the league. None of the 5 guys guarding him are ready for the league and they manhandled him.

Plaisted wasn't "man-handled".

He never caught the ball where he wanted to. He used is quickness to his advantage but had trouble scoring when hit.

Call it what you want, but Trent was pushed off the block all day and was only able to post up 17' from the hoop.

19 points, > 50% from the field = "manhandled"? He got hacked a lot and didn't get the calls. If that's what you mean by being "manhandled", then I agree.

Manhandled doesn't mean he was inefficient. Manhandled means he had rebounds ripped from his hands, he caught the ball at 17 feet because he couldn't hold his position in the post, he passed the ball because he felt too much contact, he took fade away hook shots instead of his up and under move because they were physically putting pressure on him. TP had a decent game but not a good game because he was not physically strong enough to play with the big fellas from MSU. If he was physically stronger, he would have lit those guys up. That is what I mean by manhandled. Fact is, he didn't get hacked that much if this game is in the Big X or in the Big East. Only compared to the Pac-10, WAC, MWC etc. was he hacked.
