Default Mormos are 44% male and 56% female in the USA

So let's assume, for sake of argument, that there are 4 million adult Mormons, and the breakdown is the percentages above (really you would expect the breakdown to be MORE stark, because you think the kids would be about 50/50 male/female).

That means there are 1,760,000 men. 2,240,000 women.

Let's say every man is married to one woman. That leaves 480,000 of the women that are not married to a Mormon male. That means that 21% of the adult females are not married to a Mormon male (single, married to nonmember, widowed, divorced).

Pew's sample is the issue here.

I'm completely blown away that only the JWs and the historically black protestants have lower percentage of males.

I find it funny that the active men who attend meetings are the ones who get beat up all the time and told they are no good.

I've known many women married to non-members, including obviously my wife (although I don't know how many of those men are on the records of the church and therefore still considered members). Perhaps this is why women are said to not need a companion in order to be exalted. Pragmatism goes a long way when thinking up doctrine.

Will you be pissed when I am married to your wife in the next life, and you are in the library reading a book? Just curious.

Now probably isn't a great time to ask me that question.

No.

It means us men ought to have way more leverage at home than we seem to have.

I think it's worthwhile not just to examine who has lower percentages, but which religions, like us, have more women than men. It appears to be fairly common, whatever the exact ratio.

I missed this teaching. Where is it again?

I'm not the one to ask when it comes to chapter and verse. I wouldn't be surprised if it's more cultural bullshit, either. However, I was clearly and repeatedly taught that men require a faithful and righteous spouse in order to receive the highest level of glory, whereas women are not required to marry, at least in this life.

If you and Joseph Smith share the same next life, he may claim dibs.
