A friend in AZ recommended them to me,,,but not sure if I want to.

Anyone else read them and would recommend them?

I've heard it is horribly depressing

My wife read them after my mom read them. I couldn't bring myself to read such horrors. Man's inhumanity to man.

I guess if you can get past all the negatives, you do get to the fact that the guy actually survived and is trying to do something to prevent things like that happening in others.
