I agree. Cali may be a lot of things , but an apostate is not one of them.

Hmm, not exactly "all credibility retroactively," at least not instantaneously. But it would cause me to view it with a more critical eye, yes.

I still have a hard time listening to old conference tapes where George P. Lee bears a tearful testimony.

If you're quoting non-publicly available resources, then that's true, in which case I feel free to doubt you.

I love this insight into your thought process. You're "pretty sure" you read somewhere that he "espoused some apostate beliefs." On this premise you categorize him as an apostate of the same stripe as Margaret Toscano. On this premise you also apparently discount pretty much everything he's written (which you admit you haven't read) even prior to his "apostatizing."

I have not read all of his writings, and I disagree with some of his conclusions, especially that the early leaders condoned homosexuality by not condemning it, but I'm unaware of any true apostate beliefs.

It would be kind of Tex to present those "apostate" beliefs. Margaret Toscano may have said, that she prays to a Heavenly Mother. If not her, then I have mistaken her.

You feel free to oppose fact when it stares you in the face. I don't know why you feel the need to state the obvious here.

I don't keep a file of everything I've ever read about Quinn, so yes, I'm going from memory. This is a friendly discussion and not a deposition, no?

As to his writings, yes, I already said I haven't read much about them and that I'm prejudging them based on his membership status. Why are you repeating me?

I'll have to see if I can dig some up, but many of you are more versed in Quinn than me. Have you never read anything from him that seems out of harmony with church teachings?

Your word is not fact.

Is the title of this thread an oxymoron?
