He was right. That his time as prophet was so short shocked everyone. He was expected to live another 20 years. Adam has suggested there is a connection. I do not. I merely point out that he would have likely opposed removing the ban for the rest of his life, and had it been 20 years, we would be in 1990 still banning blacks. |

Jeff - I don't know anything regarding the strength of the evidences involved. Regardless, the question as stated is sound.
Mike - Whether the Lord was involved in the visual aid pronouncement or not doesn't affect the question of why the Lord wouldn't answer the honest prayer of His Prophet.

That's why I'm glad that the SL Tribune exists. Some balance to the world. |

There is nothing more appalling to a prophet than to admit that he or his predecessors were wrong and uninspired on a topic.
That explains the great reluctance. |

If God is the author of this world and is the Creator of all humanity, one would suppose like any father that he loves all and favors none. In that sense, God must be the ultimate non-racist. The priesthood ban arose out of the curse of Cain mentality and was racist. The reason members struggle with the possibility of such an egregious error being made by leaders is the unproven assumption that God intervenes and directs the leaders like a puppetmaster over the marionettes. He does not. And our leaders are no better than our followers, just different skills.

We believe God is a virtual puppetmaster, not a delegator, waiting for people to return and report.

Do we believe that God isn't chief executive that reviews results and outlines the course of action and then holds his employees accountable for their actions and progress towards those goals?

HE is not a control freak, but allows much more to occur than a typical executive.
