Why can't we talk about the temple....
with our spouses in the sanctity of our homes?
If it was truly sacred and not secret, why wouldn't I be able to discuss things outside the temple walls with another endowed member? |

I haven't ever really thought about this.
I know we are told not to, so I don't. Not being able to talk about it outside of the temple has actually prompted temple trips with my wife because there have been things I wanted to discuss with her that could only be discussed there. Motivation for possible attendance could be one reason...

I am trying to think if there is any quote by any prophet, past or present, where he consecrates the earth. I'm of the belief that there exist plenty of sacred places on the earth that aren't consecrated and designated specifically for certain types of worship. For example, there is a little used trail in Ogden, that climbs one of it's peaks. It traverses a valley that is one of the most peaceful, beautiful serene valleys I have ever walked. Loads of wild grass, wildflowers, pines, oak, are found as the noise of the city gets blocked out and a lookout point is found, it would seem appropriate to discuss the beauties of the gospel in all it's forms on a trail like this. |

I don't see the need to discuss the ceremony or theatre, but discussing the covenants is important and can be done generally outside the temple.
I believe we can list them, without identifying the specifics of the wording. Understanding the covenants is important. The theatre doesn't do much for me.

The theatre has changed over time, but basically shows progressions, relationships and developments.
Perhaps it's meaningful to many persons, but because it's "theatre", or a "representation", it's not accurate and therefore, merely allegorical. Perhaps all human expressions are that way. I like the lights going out for a quick nap, being taught some covenants and going into the celestial room. The other stuff is a slow way to teach principles that could be conveyed more expeditiously, IMHO.
