Default My guess is even IPU

would cheer hard for the Redd Foxes if they were to get out of their junkyard and play the Utes....'Lizbeth honey, I'm comin' to join ya!

Unfortunately many of us have alma maters that have some serious impediments to good football. We are grateful to live vicariously through the beloved teams of our youth!

I have a theory that you can only be passionate about a school you loved in your youth. I've always had trouble generating a lot of ardor for state of Washington teams, pro or college.

There's definitely something to this. I have little to no Penn State pride. I just want my students to play well (whatever the sport).

I voted yes because Utah and Marist are two different divisions of football, so I can have a favorite in both categories. Should the two ever hook up, I would wear red and whichever team wins would be a good thing.

Now, if the Black Knights and Red Foxes hooked up for a game - which would be more likely as they're just a few river miles apart - then it would be on. Go Red Foxes!

When people relocate I think it's natural to start cheering for the teams that you hear about on the news every day and who your new friends and neighbors cheer for.

Something I've mentioned before though was in four years of living in San Diego, I did not meet one single Aztecs fan who was not a current student there. Not one, ever. Everyone's football interest was first and foremost on the Chargers, followed by USC and UCLA. The Aztecs have never had a sellout in their entire history, and their 10 largest crowds are all games against UCLA.

I think it's good to cheer for home team. I like Penn State. I've always liked the Steelers. I watch lots of Pirates games (although only God knows why), but, a la SU's post, they'll never mean as much as the team I watched growing up.
