Default Rush Limbaugh, head of the Republican Party

Rahm is absolutely brilliant for stoking this fire. He knows no conservative can question Rush and survive politically, so he is forcing the issue. He pushed the point so much, that Michael Steele felt compelled to respond in a media interview about whether or not Rush really led the GOP. Steele gave an inartful response, indicating that Rush's program was "ugly" and for "entertainment" only.

What happened next? Rush blasted Steele, indicating that he should commit Hari Kari because the party is a disgrace. In response, Steele apologized profusely, saying that he meant to express that people shouldn't blame rush or attack him, but that it came out wrong. Ha! Rush has Steele kissing his ring now.

Rush Limbaugh. Head of the GOP. What could be better for Democrats?

Cali: a man who can't remember 1994.

Steele really stepped in that one.

EDIT: One correction to Cali's characterization. (Big shock he got something wrong). Limbaugh did not say Steele should commit hari-kari, but said that he himself (Limbaugh) might do so were he in charge of the GOP during the last couple of years. Here's the quote:

Quote:
I'm not in charge of the Republican Party, and I don't want to be. I would be embarrassed to say that I'm in charge of the Republican Party in the sad-sack state that it's in. If I were chairman of the Republican Party, given the state that it's in, I would quit. I might get out the hari-kari knife because I would have presided over a failure that is embarrassing to the Republicans and conservatives who have supported it and invested in it all these years.

I didn't say Limbaugh literally told Steele to commit Hari Kari (go figure- Tex didn't pay attention).

The Republican Party- beholden to Rush Limbaugh. I love it. Steele was right- originally. Rush is incendiary and his politics are ugly. Too bad Steele doesn't have the strength to stick by his statement.

He didn't tell him that at all, literally or otherwise.

Ha! If Republicans had listened to Limbaugh, they'd still be running the federal government.

I pray they do listen to Rush. While you and the others are off kissing his ring, you can also kiss any chance at winning a majority in Congress or the White House goodbye.

Good riddance.

All Limbaugh really represents is conservativism. Each time Republicans run on it, they win.

The word is "conservatism," Tex. If Limbaugh represents conservatism, that makes it that much clearer that conservatism is a joke.

Limbaugh is the official head of the SWCP.

Powerline is effectively calling for Steele to step down:

"If Michael Steele thinks that the way to respond to the White House's attack on Rush Limbaugh is to throw Rush under the bus, his understanding of the party's base and of the current political landscape--not to mention his understanding of Limbaugh--is too weak for him to continue as RNC Chairman."

The SWCP is feeling very uncomfortable with Steele at the helm!
