Do you have any trust in their leadership? I see many questions about their leadership, how they are doing a terrible job, leading the Church astray. Are they doing anything correctly in your mind?

They make perfectly clear if a person injests substances into his body which violate the WoW, no recommend. If you have a porn problem, no recommend.

If you don't have a testimony of the commandments or relationships ordained by God, and you declare it to the interviewer, no recommend.

You have twisted this discussion to rant about how unimportant any Church opposition to homosexuality should be, when in fact, the Church is concerned about our salvation and that those members who enter the temple to worship have basic testimonies of core doctrines. That is what is required to enter the temple, plus minimal worthiness.

A person interviewed who declares, "I don't believe the Church should oppose gay marriage and the Church is wrong," has given a red flag that he lacks of a testimony of what Church leadership considers to be a core value.

It seems to be a simple matter. The discussion about whether other things are wrong is non sequitur, because they don't focus upon one's testimony, and apparently are not important enough for leadership to take a stand. I trust their judgment in this matter; apparently you do not.

Somehow selling, profitting, and advertising alcohol, tobacco, porn is not providing for and encouraging certain industries. Somehow the topic of du jour of the past priesthood conferences is not as official as the announcement made by the brethren regarding gay marriage.

I think more than anything it shows that we are so miseducated about the ills of homosexuality, that so afraid of homosexuals, that we push aside all reason and look on the sinners, and not the sin.

Practicing homosexualism according to LDS dogma will prevent someone from the celestial kingdom just as much as drinking alcohol.
