It may be that God rarely answers questions that aren't asked.

And it may be that humans ask questions after ideas and conundrums are presented to them.

...

The thing that I have tried to wrestle with in my mind is whether I could envision have female priesthood leadership. In other words, could I imagine a future where a woman is a Bishop. Specifically, my bishop.

The answer is yes. I can imagine it. That does not mean I support it, or want it, or am advocating it.

The bridge to female priesthood leadership is actually not that daunting in our church, I think, from a doctrinal perspective. One can argue that our conception of God and spiritual gifts and temple worship are heavily interwoven with the idea of the feminine divine. The idea that men and women are jointly required to ascend to the state that is nearest to God. That in fact, there is a Heavenly Mother from whom we all descend. That without her, we would not exist. That the Father and Mother acted jointly.

In fact, in conjunction with expansion of women's role in the church, we could have revealed an improved understanding of the role of women in the eternities. That these truths have been held back until such time as we were ready.

We got a lot of talent on the sideline right now. A lot.

I have the same attitude as Mike, even though I haven't thought about it that deeply.
