BYU and tradition/prestige
All this talk of BYU's prestige and history got me thinking: what are the other college football programs across the country that have more tradition/prestige, to the level that it isn't even debatable (that's the key I am focusing on) than BYU? I am talking the teams where it isn't even close. If it's close, it doesnt belong on the list.
My list: USC Notre Dame Ohio State Michigan Penn State Miami Florida Florida State Texas Oklahoma Alabama LSU Tennessee Texas A&M UCLA Nebraska Obviously there will be differing opinions, I am not trying to start an argument. Just throwing this out there for discussion. Last edited by Colly Wolly; 07-03-2007 at 12:29 AM. |

the list is much longer than that.
Texas A&M has to be on the list ahead of BYU. |

I'll also throw Tennessee, UCLA, Texas A&M, and Nebraska on there.
Any other teams that are just head and shoulders above BYU in tradition/presitige? |

While Penn State has unquestionable tradition, their prestige is fading. I'm not saying that BYU is at their level, but Penn State is in danger of becoming a Purdue/Iowa type program. Good at times, but not special.
