Default Cycling attire question

In light of MW satire article:

http://cougarguard.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9779

...it got me thinking, (would especially like to hear opinions from the few CG females on the board):

Do you find cycling attire, shorts, jerseys etc. objectionable, or offensive?

Would you go into a convenience store alone if you're out on a ride? Would you do so and feel comfortable?

It's not as if I'm in the convenience store to pick up on dates.

So I'm in one of these convenience stores, when a particularly attractive female is staring my way, and she's smiling. My head starts to grow bigger, and bigger, until I'm feeling pretty good of myself.

Then reality sank in, she was probably laughing how all these other women do when they first spy cyclists. Go figure. At least the other guys were thinking the same, "Hey dude, that babe was really checking you out."

I started realizing, probably how ridiculous I looked.

At my age, I actually could not care less hwat strangers think abotu my appearance. Unless they are clients or my wife (and she is frequently on rides with me) I don't care.

I've never even thought about how silly I may look. In fact, I took great pleasure in showing up to my daughter's junior high school in cycling garb to bring her the math book that she had left at home. To her great horror, I even said hi to her friends while standing next to her and gave her a hug and a kiss.

It was awesome.

As I'm standing in line with my gatorade feeling fit and they are standing in line with their 64 oz mug of Mountain Dew I actually feel good to be in cycling clothes. I just tell myself that on the outside they may laugh but on the inside they know they need to get off their fast ass and do something.

I am sorry to say that I don't own any cycling attire. For one thing I am cheap, way cheap, and that has pretty much prevented any purchase. Lack of stores in this area has been a major factor in this too.
Also I jsut can't see myself in the skintight, just not me.

So you weren't wearing cycling attire up to Sundance? It sure looked like it to me.

Absolutely nailed it RC! How funny.

It just made me think because of that article MW brought up...and how some people may think it's offensive etc.

At this point in my life...I don't really care what they think, and you're right...most of those that may scoff...more than likely need to be doing something active themselves!
