So who made the playoffs in the West that doesn't make it next year. Also, I think the Blazers will have something to say about that 8 spot in the West

PG - Jerryd Bayless
SG - Brandon Roy
SF - Travis Outlaw
PF - LaMarcus Aldridge
C - Greg Oden

Bench: Rudy Fernandez, Martell Webster, Joel Pryzbilla, Channing Frye, and Steve Blake.

Of course Pritchard may make some moves before the season starts. Outlaw is going to have a breakout season next year.

Denver probably doesn't make it. Also, you can probably count on one team losing a key player to injury and sliding. And Phoenix may be fighting for their life for a playoff spot instead of being a 'shoe-in' as they have been in the past. Golden State also probably won't be in contention now, although they still have enough pieces to make things interesting.

I think locks/near locks (pending injury, of course) are:
Lakers
Spurs
Jazz
Hornets
Houston

That leaves the remaining teams to fight for the last three spots:

Portland
Dallas
Phoenix
LA Clippers
Denver

If you asked me what I thought today, I would say that Denver and either Phoenix or Dallas miss the playoffs next year. Of course, this is before Free Agency and injuries, but I wouldn't be surprised.

As tough as the West was last year, this year might be even tougher.

I predict the Lakers will implode and finish last in the west.

Brand isn't going anywhere. Maggette is gone.

They didn't sign Baron Davis only to let Brand go - Brand will re-up with the Clippers.
