Which team had almost no chance of stopping BYU's running game? SDSU is terrible and Utah is not very good but at least had a chance of stopping BYU.

I will definetly agree that the Aztec rushing D is worse than the Utes.

Rocky is like the Stephen A. Smith of CG...he repeats himself over and over and gets louder and louder until his opponent gives up. It's an effective strategy, to be sure

Again, let's look at results on the season.
Oregon St: 241 yards rushing, 5.5 ypc, 2 TDs. Absolutely terrible game. I'll give you that one for sure. The Ute rushing defense looked pathetic against this team. Air Force: 334 yards rushing, 5.3 ypc, 2 TDs. Again terrible performance At this point in the season, I would agree with Rocky's assessment UCLA: 83 yards, 2.7 ypc, 0 TDs First good performance of the year UNLV: 196 yards, 4.3 ypc, 2 TDs Terrible performance. At this point is where you see the Utes starting to change players and start to get healthy. Utah St: 136 yards, 3.0 ypc, 1 TD This is actually an OK performance. Utes held Utah St to only 3 ypc which is solid. Utah St was slightly above their season average in yards, and below the season average in ypc Louisville: 26 yards, 1.6 ypc, 1 TD Not a bad performance at all. San Diego St: 62 yards, 1.2 ypc, 1 TD Good performance. Held 40 yards below season average, and nearly 2 yards below the season ypc. TCU: 95 yards, 3.5 ypc, 1 TD Good performance. Held TCU over 60 yards below season average for yards and below their average ypc. CSU: 135 yards, 4.0 ypc, 0 TDs I'd say this performance was pretty damn mediocre WYoming: 37 yards, 1.2 ypc, 0 TDs Very good performance New Mexico: 81 yards, 2.6 ypc, 1 TD Again good performance BYU: 155 yards, 4.7 ypc, 1 TD Utes did not play well with rush defense in this game. Again these are not the stats of a terrible rush defense, these are the stats of a pretty mediocre rush defense. Since the Utes made a lot of changes on defense and got healthy (Long and Misi) there has been a vast improvement. At the beginning of the year they were terrible, at the end of the year they were mediocre. |

So .... this is essentially an argument about whether a team's rush D is just "mediocre" or actually "terrible."
Sounds like a typical debate for a MWC team.

No sane person would leave anywhere to coach at SMU. No one. Johnson needs to stay put or wait for a better job. SMU will pay the money for him but they won't win.
