They worked with these women for years after telling them they were following an apostate leader. First excommunication in 165 years for the Arkansas diocese. Apparently that is a membership of 170K. That would be roughly equivalent for LDS to Utah County. Somewhere around 30 stakes. It probably would be safe to say based on this little sampling that LDS church excommunicates about 1,000 times more often than Catholic church.

Come on. Not only were they child molesters, they were the boys' trusted ecclesiastical leaders. You have to be kidding me. And I'm not a hard liner when it comes to church discipline.

I said maybe. Not being excommunicated <> exalted in the kingdom of God. Not being excommunicated <> getting a temple recommend. Doesn't equal being allowed to partake of sacrament. Doesn't equal being allowed to serve in a church alling.

Since there are requirements for entry into the church, shouldn't there be requirements to remain in the church as well?

I suppose a requirement could be that you have faith in Jesus Christ and a desire to repent of your sins.
