I don't have the problem of being an intellectual. I'm just a dumb guy doing the best I can.

I think it is a good question, but with a simple answer. They justify it to themselves in the same way that persons who flaunt their wealth in a way that is prideful do when they consider themselves or any other group with a potential personality flaw. Which is to say rarely or not at all.

Or they simply think that it does not apply to them. And truthfully in a religion that prides itself on personal revelation, but also is stridently hierarchical this will always be a difficult juxtaposition for the institutional church and members at large, besides the "intellectuals or post-mormons."

Mostly, we just look at you and laugh.

Because you're so stupid.

Dumbass.

(Nah, if there's any ounce of wisdom to which I've ascribed, it has only been to inform me of how little wisdom I've actually obtained. I think that is the real meaning of those warnings. Clearly, God wants us to obtain intelligence, but we need to recognize that we know not all things just because we know some things, or even many things.)

You'll have to ask an intellectual. When I find one, I'll ask.

Why is "intellectual" so often used as a pejorative by LDS and CB members? Have I missed some scriptural prohibition on exercising your intellect?
