Default Fargo

I just got done watching this movie. It was ok. I was mildly entertained and laughed out loud a couple times (like when the guy was having sex with the hooker and then got beat up by the big indian dude), but other parts are just so bizarre and random. Like the part with the pregnant lady and the asian dude in the restaurant. wtf? Random and awkward. Maybe that's why it's funny.

What is the deal with all the Cohen brothers praise? The Big Lebowski is money. Love that show.

But I'm just not really seeing what all the hype is about with the rest of their movies. Fargo was amusing but weird. I'd give it a B-.

Careful you're treading on sacred ground here with Coen-ites on this board.

I'm not one of them of course.

Fargo = one of the most overated movies ever.

Being deliberately odd and bizarre as it can be doesn't make a movie great.

The movies aren't good because they are odd and bizarre, they are good because the movies are well made. The dialog in Coen brother's movies is always fantastic. The cinematography is great, the direction is great. The Coen brothers are quite possibly the best movie makers out there right now.

Fargo is a fantastic movie. I rank the Coen Brothers movies as follows:

1. The Big Lebowski
2. Fargo
3. Raising Arizona
4. Blood Simple
5. Miller's Crossing
6. O Brother Where Art Thou
7. Barton Fink
8. The Hudsucker Proxy
9. Intolerable Cruelty
10. The Man Who Wasn't There
11. The Lady Killers

Really excited to see No Country for Old Men.

Enjoy your Andy Sandler movies Rocky, I'll take something well made instead.

Fargo is one of my favorites. Definitely in my top 20, and part of the great 90's hard R trifecta along with Fight Club and Pulp Fiction.

Looking at the list that Funk posted I'm reminded of how good the Coens' movies are. I even liked Lady Killers.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing No Country. It looks like a good movie.

Funk, your transparent desperation to fit in with the "intellectuals" is one of the more endearing qualities about you.

What in the Hell are you talking about. Really shouldn't your insults at least make some degree of sense. I'm not trying to fit in with anyone, I have just always really enjoyed the Coen brothers movies.

If you think that was an insult, then I pity you.

It was clearly an insult. Don't get me wrong, I tend to think that Funk is somewhat of a douche, but I don't know how you can say you weren't trying to insult him.

I never said it wasn't an insult, but merely suggesting that I'm going easy on him.
