Mugabe's racial justice
Poor sad Zimbabwe. It used to be a beautiful and prosperous country that
fed its people well and had big surpluses for export. Now, it is wracked with violence, corruption, malnuitrition and rising chaos. The "official" rate of inflation is 100,000%. That means that $100 today is expected to be worth only 5 cents a year from now which also means that something costing $1 today will cost $2000 a year from now. Remember that this is only the "official" rate of inflation that the Government admits. The real rate of inflation (in the stores and markets) is about 150,000% All of this is because President Robert Mugabe decided to implement "racial justice" and "land reform" by kicking out the successful farmers and giving the land to his cronies.

The history of Rhodesia/Zimbabwe is pretty interesting. I had a friend who was born and raised in Rhodesia until age 12. His dad was in the Rhodesian army and fought for years in the bush war of the 1970's. I'm not going to defend apartheid, but Ian Smith said he was trying to protect his country against inevitable marxism if the ANC types took over. The trick was to give blacks the vote while protecting rule of law and property rights. Sadly, they were never able to get it done. The die was cast when Mugabe took over.
