Cali seems to think it is wonderful pick, but Obama could deficate in public and Cali would praise it as an amazingly timely expression of his unity with the common people, all of whom defecate as well.

The pick puzzles me. Very old school Democrat, absolutely no wow factor. Kind of like Bush picking Chaney, the second time. I think it is an expression of Obama's confidence that he has this thing wrapped up. Or that he has concerns about the base. Take your pick.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

Cali hates this, but Cali would praise the selection of Mussolini, Stalin, Lenin or Mao.

It is an interesting pick, one with possibility but one with potential for mistake. Biden has said some nice things about McCain and some not so nice things about Obama.

I said he would be the man on 8.18.2008.

I like Biden because he's entertaining. I would have hated to see Clinton on the ticket. It would have been unbeatable.

I've always thought that Obama's VP pick would be an white, grey-haired Washington veteran. Obama doesn't need a VP that will excite the base; if Obama himself does not already excite you, the VP isn't likely to do it-- if anything, it would seem somewhat reckless. On the other hand, it puts someone with experience on the ticket, shoring up a glaring weakness. Biden also gives the Obama ticket some assistance on foreign policy, helping to shore up an even more glaring weakness.

It's a good pick. Time will tell if it's good enough.

I like Biden overall, but I have a serious problem with what has to be one of the worst hair plug jobs on Capitol Hill, and that's saying something. If this comes down to a referendum on hair, Romney will kick Biden's ass.

Joe Biden: 35-year Senator, Change You Can Believe In.
Joe Biden: Not a crotchety white-hard old man like John McCain.

Biden will succeed in televised debates because he's not actually a senator but a TV commentator.

it's really too bad Romney won't be able to attack Obama and Biden as "just senators" when he's actually been in the executive branch, because he will just be ripping on McCain as well, a lifelong politician in the Senate.

I think Biden will connect much better with the middle/independents, esp. among the more educated. Romney will use fear tactics and try to appeal to the poor disenfranchised angry white males.
