Listening to Nirvana Unplugged
It struck me that the name of one of the songs is Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam. Somehow I hadn't ever really noticed that before.
I thought it was strange, since I thought the song Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam was an LDS song (I thought it referred to the sunbeam primary group). Someone named Nellie Talbot wrote the lyrics for the song. I googled her name but haven't found anything out about her. But when I google the name of the song, a lot of references to "well-known gospel song" come up. Who would have thought it was a gospel song? I am guessing that means it predates the church. Did the church get the name sunbeams from the song or are they completely unrelated? Anyone? |

Not sure about the song, but Nirvana unplugged? Is that even possible?

I believe the Sunbeam song that we all sang in primary is used in many churches.

Or... you're all wrong. Kurt Cobain's mom was baptized when he was 2 and he attended Primary for a while. The title stuck in his head and came to mind during a down period in his life, so he wrote the song. The period wasn't as down, though, as March of 94.

Actually, the Vaselines wrote Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam and Nirvana covered it on the album. |

Whatever. The dad of one my comps served in the Washington mission and interviewed her for baptism. I think it was in Aberville or something like that. We talked about it because his dad was still good friends with the baptizing elder and it was right after the whole shotgun incident. (Wouldn't Courtney Love drive you to that, too?)

That is so strange, because my brother's friend's uncle also served in that mission and baptized Ozzie! That guy said Ozzie wouldn't have ever accepted the gospel if not for the personal recommendation of Harrison Ford who was bishop at the time. :P |
