Does anybody remember Yakov Smirnoff the Russian Comic?
He had a great routine that I thoroughly enjoyed.
One of them included, "I got off the plane and see a big billboard, stating, 'Everybody loves Smirnoff.'" What a country! Then when talking about jobs he'd love to have, he stated, "I'd love to be the condom tester at Trojan." "What a Country!"

I never enjoyed his stuff. I have no idea why. His lines are funny on paper but I just never liked his delivery.

Speaking of delivery... the King of that was Mitch Hedburg (RIP). Dude has this way about him that his delivery was just hillarious. His jokes on paper aren't all that great... well, some of them were, but it was really his delivery that made him a great comic.

Must be a generational thing. I grew up in the era of the big, spooky Soviet Union, potential nuclear holocaust, and Russian spies under every bridge. Smirnoff helped to cut the tension a bit. What we need now is at least one good radicalized Islamic comedian (“Osama, Nasrallah, a goat, and Pamela Anderson were on a life raft . . . . .”). But something tells me the first thing that is excised at those training camps on the Afghan-Pakistan border is a good sense of humor.
