Default question for those who know greek

What is the greek word for transfigured and is it translated correctly in the king james version? Our sunday school lesson was about the mount of transfiguration and I was curious what was originally said and what the word means in greek.

"Metemorphose" is the word in Greek. Scott and Liddell's lexicon translates it as "transform;" the two roots are "meta," for change, and "morphe," for shape. In Latin, the word used is "transfiguratus."

Are "transform" and "transfigurate" synonyms?

Yes. Latin's figura means form or shape, so to transfigure means to change form or shape.

I guess Jesus was a transformer . . . . you know - more than meets the eye.
