Default bought aero bars for the first time

I went to the Performance grand opening in Dallas. They had their forte bars on sale for $50, plus I had a 20 off 50 coupon, so picked em up for $30.

So I went on a really long ride of sixteen miles. They were very comfortable. I do regret not being able to hold the handlebar next to the stem when I sit up (which is often) and esp. when climbing. But I think I'll fun with it.

I think I was born to be a time trialer. Like Cancellara. I just won't discover my talent for many years.

I also picked up 24 packs of those shock blox or whatever they are called. Gelatin power-ups. I like those.

I need to ride every once in a while to get ready for a couple of rallies. Only my 3rd ride of the season, which is pitiful. I blame scouting.

I've never used aero bars. I've thought about it a bit, but wondered if I would ever really use them.

Did the fit & feel come naturally for you? Was it easy to steer your bike? I wonder if I would use them...but, I'll bet it gives you a great break from your pressure points on your hands.

How did your back handle it?

Natural? Yes.

Easy to steer? Considering first time with aero bars on this bike, yes. (had used my dad's aero bars once before on his bike).

Back was fine. But neck ached a little bit, and that is just a function of it only being my 3rd ride of the year.

It sounds like you did better on the aeros than most do when first starting. My first time I was all over the road. I felt totally squirley on the for probably a dozen rides. Plus my low back and neck were sore from riding so low.

I figure I get a 1.5 mph advantage with the aero bars. Just a guess.

22.5 becomes 24.

Or for some of us, 32 becomes 33.5.

If I can do 10 minutes at 25mph, I would be thrilled.

I'm definitely not there.

There are two settings for TT, tri setting and TT setting. The more aggressive setting is for TT, and the less aggressive is for tris, less tension on the lower back.

They always make me feel bad about myself because my knees keep hitting my gut when I use them so I prefer big chopper bars.

My wife stated Viking reminded her of a young George Hincapie, only faster.
